Featured on the 37signals Product Blog

There was an uptick in user registrations this morning and after a little investigation I discovered that 37signals posted a note about Periscope Gadget. Thanks, Jason! It’s amazing to me how posts like this happen without any solicitation and I’m very grateful they do… exposure for Periscope is always a good thing.

Periscope for GMail Dugg; CostPerNews mention

Periscope for GMail got on to Digg, can you help push it up please? Oh, and Cost Per News also had a write up, so thanks to Sam for that.

Periscope on Lifehacker; MinneDemo recap

Since I announced yesterday that Periscope was now compatible with GMail, there have been a *flurry* of registrations and many excited users trying Periscope out for the first time. I guess my hope that Periscope would reach more people through GMail is coming true! And then, as soon as I announced it, LifeHacker picked up on it and posted about it - which is great! So go on over to their site and read the article. And leave a comment too, if you are so inclined.

Last night’s demo at MinneDemo went really well, I thought. Did you know that 7 minutes of demo time is not very much at all? I raced through as many features as I could (tons to show!) on Jon Dahl’s MacBook Pro but was not able to show the Windows Desktop Gadget nor the iPhone simulation. I think people got the general jist of it and was happy to read some nice comments on Twitter afterwards.

Periscope listed in the Google Solutions Marketplace

http://www.google.com/enterprise/marketplace/viewListing?productListingId=5010954+1911385834601541635

I’m very proud to announce that Google just approved the listing of Periscope Gadget in the Google Solutions Marketplace! From the site:

Google Solutions Marketplace links customers to vendors whose solutions integrate and extend Google’s communication, collaboration, and enterprise search products.

This is like an iGoogle directory on steroids because it not only lists Google gadgets and applications that businesses can leverage but also services and apps that other companies provide that build on top of the entire Google platform. Woo hoo! See the listing here

And when you do visit… please leave a customer review at the bottom: that would really help spread the good word of Periscope.

Periscope on Minnov8 :)

Periscope was mentioned on the Minnov8 blog, so I thought I’d point you guys over there for more information about the upcoming demo at MinneDemo. Don’t forget to RSVP if you are intent on coming…

Rich Apps Consulting describes Periscope as “a quick and convenient way to manage Basecamp accounts”

Thanks to Tayyaba Khalil over at Rich Apps Consulting for describing Periscope as “a quick and convenient way to manage Basecamp accounts” — read the whole post on their blog. It’s always nice to hear the thoughts of users and reviewers since it encourages us to keep updating and to keep going at this, while also providing a reality check.

They were also careful to point out that Periscope does not let you add or edit comments, nor add or mark-off to-do items as complete. He writes:

However, one downside is that Periscope Gadget does not allow users to leave comments on an entry nor add/complete “to-do” items.

Hey man! The funtionality is not there, sure… but I’ve received numerous comments and requests for to-do lists to be in the gadget but this is the first for comments. I must admit, that hasn’t crossed my mind in the past, but now that you mention it, it sounds like something that might make sense. I’ll add it to the feature request list and see where it goes. Thanks!

CMS Wire posts about Periscope, writes honest, detailed entry

The folks over at CMS Wire posted an entry about Periscope last week. Somehow, we missed it. Note: please let us know if you’re writing something about us, we’d love to know and also let our users know about what’s being said, good, bad or otherwise. If nothing else, we’ll link to you :)

They make some excellent points, especially with regard to usernames and passwords — the more people who use Periscope that know about what is and isn’t stored, the better — and also offer up some kind words for us. Thanks, guys! And the post certainly goes a long way in educating readers about the facts.

ReadWriteWeb: “design for the Periscope Gadget is simple and effective”

Periscope was referred to by Corvida over at ReadWriteWeb as having a design that “is simple and effective, with hover-over link effects to keep the interface as simple as possible without leaving out important details” — what a succinct way to describe it! Many thanks for the post and nice words about Periscope Gadget. Read the whole post here.

Republished, but that’s OK!

Summize (er, Twitter Search) is awesome. I like to keep tabs on whether or not Periscope Gadget is being mentioned on twitter, and even to see if I missed any messages that were directed at me, using it. This morning I found a republished version of the piece Scott did last week. It’s over at elsterama - thanks for the note!

Public Beta Now Open & Periscope on WebWorkerDaily

Yes, it’s true: Periscope Gadget is now open to the public. Go on over to the registration page, sign-up for an account and start using it immediately. What more can I say?

Also, thanks to @scoblitz for his piece about Periscope Gadget in Web Worker Daily! A great review where Scott points out how Periscope “lets you quickly and easily log activity and time towards your Basecamp projects” while also mentioning that new features are coming soon! Stay tuned, more to come!
